On July 16, 2026, Zhijie Auto announced that its electromagnetic thermal-control integrated die casting won the Gold Casting Award at CHINA DIECASTING 2026 in Shanghai, selected from 88 entries. The technology is already in series production on the Zhijie V9 MPV's one-piece rear floor. The numbers behind the award: 78 parts consolidated into a single casting, 760 weld spots removed, structure weight down 15.5%, and yield strength up more than 55%.
CHINA DIECASTING 2026 ran July 15-17 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. It is Asia's largest die casting exhibition, and the Gold Casting Award is its top honor for cast parts.
How the Technology Works
The process adds two control layers to a standard large high-pressure die casting cell, both aimed at the two classic HPDC defects: porosity and cold shuts.
- Electromagnetic melt control during filling. An electromagnetic field acts on the molten aluminum and improves its fluidity, so the metal fills the die smoothly and evenly. Steadier flow means less air entrainment, which directly lowers internal porosity in large body castings.
- A nano thermal-control coating inside the die. The coating switches between two states. During filling it insulates, keeping the melt hot enough to reach the far ends of the cavity without cold shuts or cracks. During intensification and holding it turns highly conductive and pulls heat out fast, speeding up solidification. Cooling runs about 20% faster than conventional integrated HPDC, and the cooling temperature difference nearly doubles.
The practical result is consistent forming quality between the near and far ends of a large die, a much denser casting, and, paired with a high-strength aluminum alloy, a yield strength increase of more than 55% over a conventional equivalent.
Key Numbers
| Metric | Result |
|---|---|
| Parts consolidated | 78 into 1 |
| Weld spots removed | 760 |
| Structure weight | -15.5% |
| Yield strength | +55% |
| Cooling speed | ~20% faster than conventional HPDC |
| Award | Gold Casting Award, selected from 88 entries |
The winning part is the rear floor of the Zhijie V9, an MPV from the HIMA brand backed by Huawei and Chery. Rear floors define third-row crash performance in MPVs, and the third row has long been the weakest seating position in this vehicle class. Zhijie says its RX model will adopt the same technology.
Why It Matters for Die Casting Buyers
For the past five years, integrated die casting competition centered on machine size: who runs the biggest press. This award points somewhere else. The jury at CHINA DIECASTING 2026 said it weighed how well an entry solves real industry pain points, not process complexity alone. Porosity and cold shuts are exactly the two defects that drive scrap and quality escapes in large structural castings, and this process attacks both through melt and thermal management rather than clamping force.
Most component buyers will never need a 9,000-ton cell. The same physics still decides quality on small and medium parts: controlled filling, balanced die temperature, and low porosity are what separate a reliable casting supplier from a cheap one. That is the process discipline behind Meituo's aluminum die casting programs for appliance, automotive, and industrial customers, where in-house mold design, spectrometer melt verification, and X-ray inspection keep porosity and dimensional drift under control across long production runs. Buyers reviewing suppliers can check our full die casting and machining capabilities for the equipment and inspection setup behind that.
